Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Salmon Spearing by William Simson was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 250.00 – 350.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 264.00 (€ 386.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Simson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The death of Edward V and his brother Richard, Duke of York, in the Tower, 1483 Oh, thus, quoth Dighton, lay the gentle babes. Thus, thus, quoth Forrest, girdling one another. in March 2004 with an auction result of GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,838.43).
