Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fishing Boats Off Briel by William Simson was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 7,500.00 (€ 9,370.89). Other works by William Simson have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2004 by the work The death of Edward V and his brother Richard, Duke of York, in the Tower, 1483 Oh, thus, quoth Dighton, lay the gentle babes. Thus, thus, quoth Forrest, girdling one another. at GBP 6,572.50 (€ 9,838.43).
The death of Edward V and his brother Richard, Duke of York, in the Tower, 1483 Oh, thus, quoth Dighton, lay the gentle babes. Thus, thus, quoth Forrest, girdling one another. mit GBP 6.572,50 (€ 9.838,43).
