In March 2010 a collector was able to acquire the work Elizabeth Penfield by William Sidney Mount for USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,402.78). This price was achieved in the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Sidney Mount achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Ramblers in May 2008 with an auction result of USD 2,281,000.00 (€ 1,465,938.30).
