In May 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work The Ramblers by William Sidney Mount. The price achieved of USD 2,281,000.00 (€ 1,465,938.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,000,000.00 – 3,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, The Ramblers is the most expensive artwork by William Sidney Mount that we have observed at auctions so far.
