This artwork by William Sidney Cooper achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2005. In the British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental auction, the work Sheep resting in an orchard; and Cattle watering by a farmstead (illustrated) sold for GBP 1,320.00 (€ 1,915.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 700.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Sidney Cooper achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sheep by a tarn in October 2006 with an auction result of GBP 18,000.00 (€ 26,893.60).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Sidney Cooper erzielte im Dezember 2005 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Oriental wurde die Arbeit Sheep resting in an orchard; and Cattle watering by a farmstead (illustrated) für GBP 1.320,00 (€ 1.915,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 700,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Sidney Cooper erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sheep by a tarn im Oktober 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.000,00 (€ 26.893,60).
