Auction result fails to reach estimate
In January 2024 a collector was able to acquire the work Sketch for the decoration at Bjersjöholm, Sweden by William Scharff for DKK 4,000.00 (€ 3,495.89). This price was achieved in the auction Modern art and design at Bruun Rasmussen and was even lower than the DKK 8,000.00 estimate set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Scharff achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work “Hønsebillede” (Chicken Painting), 1917 in June this year with an auction result of DKK 1,600,000.00 (€ 214,798.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt den Schätzpreis
Im Januar 2024 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Sketch for the decoration at Bjersjöholm, Sweden von William Scharff für DKK 4.000,00 (€ 3.495,89) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern art and design bei Bruun Rasmussen erzielt und lag noch unterhalb des vom Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreises von DKK 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Scharff erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit “Hønsebillede” (Chicken Painting), 1917 im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von DKK 1.600.000,00 (€ 214.798,53).
