Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Swedish Landscape by William Ratcliffe was auctioned at Sothebys in London in February 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,895.62). Admittedly, works by William Ratcliffe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cottage Under Snow, Sweden in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 12,500.00 (€ 17,503.23).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Swedish Landscape von William Ratcliffe im Februar 2019 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.625,00 (€ 1.895,62) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Ratcliffe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cottage Under Snow, Sweden im November 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 12.500,00 (€ 17.503,23).
