Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Before Sunset, Storm Coming On, West Bay, Dorset by William Pye was sold in the European Art: Paintings & Sculpture auction at Sothebys in London in June 2020. The price achieved of GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,376.66) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Pye achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Firebird in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 16,539.12).

Die Arbeit Before Sunset, Storm Coming On, West Bay, Dorset von William Pye wurde im Juni 2020 in der Auktion European Art: Paintings & Sculpture bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.250,00 (€ 1.376,66) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Pye erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Firebird im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 16.539,12).
