Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Powell Frith achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2019. In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction, the work Kate Nickleby At Madame Mantalini'S sold for GBP 47,500.00 (€ 56,139.44) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Powell Frith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Derby Day: the 'first study' for the celebrated painting in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 505,250.00 (€ 605,108.24).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
