Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Mussel Gatherers by William Marshall Brown was sold in the Scottish and Sporting Pictures auction at Sothebys in London in August 2007. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,440.00 (€ 10,998.28), 24% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Marshall Brown - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Among Wild Roses, which sold at auction in October 2002 for GBP 26,290.00 (€ 41,586.15).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Mussel Gatherers von William Marshall Brown wurde im August 2007 in der Auktion Scottish and Sporting Pictures bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.440,00 (€ 10.998,28) und damit 24% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Marshall Brown mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Among Wild Roses beobachtet, die im Oktober 2002 für GBP 26.290,00 (€ 41.586,15) versteigert wurde.
