Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings, which included the work The Villa Fountain by William Leighton Leitch. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,223.60) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Other works by William Leighton Leitch have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in November 2005 the work The Villa of Lucullus At Miseneum was auctioned for GBP 48,000.00 (€ 70,518.07).
