Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2008 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Figures loading a barge before a windmill (illustrated); and A Border castle by William Leighton Leitch. The price achieved of GBP 875.00 (€ 1,106.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Leighton Leitch achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Villa of Lucullus At Miseneum in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 48,000.00 (€ 70,518.07).
