Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2007 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations, which included the work In the Roman Campagna by William Leighton Leitch. It changed hands for a price of GBP 480.00 (€ 712.91) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Leighton Leitch achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Villa of Lucullus At Miseneum in November 2005 with an auction result of GBP 48,000.00 (€ 70,518.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2007 führte Christies in London die Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Original Book Illustrations durch, in der auch die Arbeit In the Roman Campagna von William Leighton Leitch zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 480,00 (€ 712,91) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Leighton Leitch erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Villa of Lucullus At Miseneum im November 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 48.000,00 (€ 70.518,07).
