Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscape with lake by William Keith was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in December 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,657.50 (€ 1,464.48). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Keith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Yosemite Valley in May 2013 with an auction result of USD 755,000.00 (€ 581,305.82).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Landscape with lake von William Keith im Dezember 2021 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 1.657,50 (€ 1.464,48) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Keith erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Yosemite Valley im Mai 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 755.000,00 (€ 581.305,82).
