In April 2006 Christies in New York held the auction The House Sale, which included the work On The Hunt; And On The Scent by William Joseph Shayer. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,800.00 (€ 1,425.86), 50% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Joseph Shayer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going out of Kennels; Moving Off; Casting for Scent; Gone Away; Full Cry; and Nearing the Kill. in December 2000 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 25,031.96).
