Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work A groom with a bay cob, at the door of a mansion by William Joseph Shayer. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,139.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Joseph Shayer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Going out of Kennels; Moving Off; Casting for Scent; Gone Away; Full Cry; and Nearing the Kill. in December 2000 with an auction result of USD 23,500.00 (€ 25,031.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2008 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit A groom with a bay cob, at the door of a mansion von William Joseph Shayer zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.139,99) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Joseph Shayer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Going out of Kennels; Moving Off; Casting for Scent; Gone Away; Full Cry; and Nearing the Kill. im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.500,00 (€ 25.031,96).
