In April 2012 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Paintings, which included the work Lion and Lioness by William Huggins. The result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 7,559.15) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Huggins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two leopards in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 458,500.00 (€ 334,305.50).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im April 2012 führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lion and Lioness von William Huggins zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 7.559,15) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Huggins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two leopards im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 458.500,00 (€ 334.305,50).
