The work Dozing Lion (recto); and A sketch of two cows in a landscape (verso) by William Huggins was sold in the British and European Art auction at Christies in London in December this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 13,860.00 (€ 15,966.19), 73% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Huggins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two leopards in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 458,500.00 (€ 334,305.50).

Die Arbeit Dozing Lion (recto); and A sketch of two cows in a landscape (verso) von William Huggins wurde im Dezember diesen Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 13.860,00 (€ 15.966,19) und damit 73% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Huggins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two leopards im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 458.500,00 (€ 334.305,50).
