In the Sporting Art auction, the work The Grand National, 1927 changed hands for GBP 3,346.00 (€ 4,661.82) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Hounsom Byles - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Gold Cup, 1923; The 2000 Guineas Stakes, 1923; The 141st renewal of the Oakes Stakes, 1923; The Lincolnshire Handicap, 1923; and The Kempton Park Great Jubilee Handicap, 1923, which sold at auction in June 2002 for GBP 7,050.00 (€ 10,904.75).
