Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Volda Fjord In Spring by William Henry Johnson was sold in the American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction at Sothebys in New York in June 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 21,250.00 (€ 19,262.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Henry Johnson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Uninhabited War Scene), which sold at auction in September 2019 for USD 56,250.00 (€ 51,581.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Volda Fjord In Spring von William Henry Johnson wurde im Juni 2016 in der Auktion American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 21.250,00 (€ 19.262,15) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Henry Johnson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Uninhabited War Scene) beobachtet, die im September 2019 für USD 56.250,00 (€ 51.581,84) versteigert wurde.
