Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Three portrait studies, including a self-portrait aged 25, a portrait of a gentleman; and a portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as the artist’s parents by William Henry Hunt was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,764.00 (€ 2,0 Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Henry Hunt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Eavesdropper in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 26,290.00 (€ 37,739.68).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Three portrait studies, including a self-portrait aged 25, a portrait of a gentleman; and a portrait of a lady, traditionally identified as the artist’s parents von William Henry Hunt im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus.
