In December 2012 Sothebys in London held the auction The Art of Illustration - From the Collection of Michael Winner, which included the work "They Carried The Mirror From Place To Place" by William Heath Robinson. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,699.83), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Heath Robinson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sane Economy of Space at a Wedding Reception in a Small Flat, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 17,500.00 (€ 11,807.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2012 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Art of Illustration - From the Collection of Michael Winner durch, in der auch die Arbeit "They Carried The Mirror From Place To Place" von William Heath Robinson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 3.000,00 (€ 3.699,83) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Heath Robinson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sane Economy of Space at a Wedding Reception in a Small Flat beobachtet, die im April 2011 für USD 17.500,00 (€ 11.807,57) versteigert wurde.
