The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,450.00 (€ 11,284.98), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Gale achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Die Klagemauer in Jerusalem. 1863. in March 2009 with an auction result of CHF 318,000.00 (€ 210,449.29).

Die Arbeit A dip on a Summer's Day von William Gale wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Isabel Goldsmith Collection: Selected Pre-Raphaelite and Symbolist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.450,00 (€ 11.284,98) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Gale erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Die Klagemauer in Jerusalem. 1863. im März 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von CHF 318.000,00 (€ 210.449,29).
