Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by William Eric Thorp achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2006. In the British and Continental Pictures auction, the work The Thames Barge Race sold for GBP 1,140.00 (€ 1,633.41) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 500.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Eric Thorp; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Towing out to sea sold at auction in February 2004 with the realized price of USD 2,629.00 (€ 2,113.17).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von William Eric Thorp erzielte im März 2006 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and Continental Pictures wurde die Arbeit The Thames Barge Race für GBP 1.140,00 (€ 1.633,41) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 500,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von William Eric Thorp; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Towing out to sea im Februar 2004 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 2.629,00 (€ 2.113,17).
