Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The ebbing tide; and Waves crashing on the coast by William Edwards Croxford was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 179.25 (€ 253.69). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Edwards Croxford - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The end of the headland, Newquay, which sold at auction in October 2002 for GBP 352.50 (€ 557.59).
