In February 2008 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Topographical Observations: Picture your world, which included the work Shipping near St Michael's Mount in Penwith, Cornwall by William Edward Webb. The price achieved of EUR 3,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Edward Webb have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Quayside Fish Market At Douglas, Isle Of Man in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 17,925.00 (€ 25,785.02).
