Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work At Poole, Dorset by William Edward Webb was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 2,160.00 (€ 3,152.90). Admittedly, works by William Edward Webb have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Quayside Fish Market At Douglas, Isle Of Man in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 17,925.00 (€ 25,785.02).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit At Poole, Dorset von William Edward Webb im Mai 2006 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 2.160,00 (€ 3.152,90) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Edward Webb auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Quayside Fish Market At Douglas, Isle Of Man im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 17.925,00 (€ 25.785,02).
