Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS, which included the work Scavenging The Foreshore For Wreckage by William Edward Norton. The price achieved of GBP 480.00 (€ 711.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Edward Norton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A barque under sail and running down Channel in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 10,755.00 (€ 16,136.46).

Im Juni 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion MARITIME PICTURES AND WATERCOLOURS durch, in der auch die Arbeit Scavenging The Foreshore For Wreckage von William Edward Norton zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 480,00 (€ 711,39) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Edward Norton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A barque under sail and running down Channel im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.755,00 (€ 16.136,46).
