Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2010 Christies in New York held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Fishermen return from a day's work; and a companion work by William Edward Norton. It changed hands for a price of USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,072.50) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Edward Norton have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A barque under sail and running down Channel in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 10,755.00 (€ 16,136.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2010 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fishermen return from a day's work; and a companion work von William Edward Norton zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.072,50) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Edward Norton auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A barque under sail and running down Channel im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 10.755,00 (€ 16.136,46).
