Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work Off to the fishing ground by William Edward Norton. The price achieved of GBP 5,100.00 (€ 6,081.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Edward Norton - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A barque under sail and running down Channel, which sold at auction in May 2004 for GBP 10,755.00 (€ 16,136.46).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion The Marine Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Off to the fishing ground von William Edward Norton zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.100,00 (€ 6.081,57) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von William Edward Norton mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A barque under sail and running down Channel beobachtet, die im Mai 2004 für GBP 10.755,00 (€ 16.136,46) versteigert wurde.
