Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of a lady, mid 1850s by William Edward Kilburn was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2000. The price achieved of GBP 352.50 (€ 565.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Edward Kilburn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sir Joseph Dalton Hooker, c.1852 in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 7,767.50 (€ 11,654.11).
