Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Courageous Spirits: Outsider and Vernacular Art, which included the work Schoolteacher by William Edmondson. Here, the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 52,500.00 (€ 48,638.13). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Edmondson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Boxer, Circa 1936 in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 785,000.00 (€ 724,704.58).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Courageous Spirits: Outsider and Vernacular Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Schoolteacher von William Edmondson zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 52.500,00 (€ 48.638,13) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Edmondson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Boxer, Circa 1936 im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 785.000,00 (€ 724.704,58).
