In January 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Outsider Art, which included the work Figural Birdbath, 1930s by William Edmondson. The auction ended at the price of USD 150,000.00 (€ 135,220.41), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by William Edmondson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Boxer, Circa 1936 in January 2016 with an auction result of USD 785,000.00 (€ 724,704.58).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Januar 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Outsider Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figural Birdbath, 1930s von William Edmondson zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 150.000,00 (€ 135.220,41) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Edmondson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Boxer, Circa 1936 im Januar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 785.000,00 (€ 724.704,58).
