Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2001 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work Topthorn, a chestnut racehorse in a stable by William Eddowes Turner. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 881.25 (€ 1,402.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Eddowes Turner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A chestnut racehorse and a Jack Russell in a stable, which sold at auction in June 2003 for GBP 2,467.50 (€ 3,545.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2001 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Topthorn, a chestnut racehorse in a stable von William Eddowes Turner zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 881,25 (€ 1.402,35) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von William Eddowes Turner mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A chestnut racehorse and a Jack Russell in a stable beobachtet, die im Juni 2003 für GBP 2.467,50 (€ 3.545,93) versteigert wurde.
