Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2005 Christies in Melbourne held the auction AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL & CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS, which included the work A Sofa with Cushions on Top by William Delafield Cook. The price achieved of AUD 14,340.00 (€ 8,695.69) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William Delafield Cook achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Kiah River Re-Visited, 1984 in November 2004 with an auction result of AUD 149,375.00 (€ 87,006.80).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 14.340,00 (€ 8.695,69) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William Delafield Cook erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Kiah River Re-Visited, 1984 im November 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 149.375,00 (€ 87.006,80).
