This artwork by William de Morgan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2009. In the The Sunday Sale - Property of the Late Monty Lewis, removed from Hyver Manor & Property of the Late Dr. William Lindsaygordon auction, the work A Pair of Ceramic Tiles, 1872-1881 sold for GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,504.64) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William de Morgan; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Perseus and Andromeda sold at auction in February 2003 with the realized price of GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,978.65).

In der Auktion The Sunday Sale - Property of the Late Monty Lewis, removed from Hyver Manor & Property of the Late Dr. William Lindsaygordon wurde die Arbeit A Pair of Ceramic Tiles, 1872-1881 für GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.504,64) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von William de Morgan; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Perseus and Andromeda im Februar 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von GBP 4.780,00 (€ 6.978,65).
