Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2009 Christies in London held the auction The Sunday Sale - Property of the Late Monty Lewis, removed from Hyver Manor & Property of the Late Dr. William Lindsaygordon, which included the work A Pair of Ceramic Tiles, 1872-1881 by William de Morgan. The price achieved of GBP 1,000.00 (€ 1,078.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Admittedly, works by William de Morgan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Perseus and Andromeda in February 2003 with an auction result of GBP 4,780.00 (€ 6,978.65).
