Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In January 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Beyond Imagination: Outsider and Vernacular Art Featuring the Collection of Marjorie and Harvey Freed, which included the work Man with a Striped Sweater by William Dawson. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,816.22), 17% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Dawson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cowboy, 1976, which sold at auction in January 2018 for USD 11,250.00 (€ 9,052.14).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Januar 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Beyond Imagination: Outsider and Vernacular Art Featuring the Collection of Marjorie and Harvey Freed durch, in der auch die Arbeit Man with a Striped Sweater von William Dawson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 2.816,22) und damit 17% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Dawson mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cowboy, 1976 beobachtet, die im Januar 2018 für USD 11.250,00 (€ 9.052,14) versteigert wurde.
