In January 2018 Christies in New York held the auction Beyond Imagination: Outsider and Vernacular Art Featuring the Collection of Marjorie and Harvey Freed, which included the work Building, 1971 by William Dawson. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,212.75), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by William Dawson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cowboy, 1976 in January 2018 with an auction result of USD 11,250.00 (€ 9,052.14).

Im Januar 2018 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Beyond Imagination: Outsider and Vernacular Art Featuring the Collection of Marjorie and Harvey Freed durch, in der auch die Arbeit Building, 1971 von William Dawson zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.212,75) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Dawson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Cowboy, 1976 im Januar 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 9.052,14).
