In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Ditton Mill, Lancashire by William Davis. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,140.89), 43% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Davis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A field of corn, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 20,315.00 (€ 29,162.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 43 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ditton Mill, Lancashire von William Davis zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.140,89) und damit 43% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von William Davis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A field of corn beobachtet, die im November 2003 für GBP 20.315,00 (€ 29.162,48) versteigert wurde.
