Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2010 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters & 19th Century Art, which included the work Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives; and The Jaffa Gate by William Clerihew. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 525.00 (€ 605.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Clerihew have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A sketchbook of forty-five drawings and watercolours from the artist's tour in 1851 of India, Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Beirut, Israel, Cyprus and Greece in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,479.99).
