This artwork by William Bromley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2002. In the British and Victorian Pictures auction, the work Gossip at the stile sold for GBP 4,465.00 (€ 6,992.25) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by William Bromley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fetching Water, which sold at auction in November 2000 for GBP 12,337.50 (€ 20,165.16).

Dieses Kunstwerk von William Bromley erzielte im Mai 2002 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British and Victorian Pictures wurde die Arbeit Gossip at the stile für GBP 4.465,00 (€ 6.992,25) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von William Bromley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fetching Water beobachtet, die im November 2000 für GBP 12.337,50 (€ 20.165,16) versteigert wurde.
