This artwork by William Bromley achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2011. In the Victorian & Edwardian Art auction, the work Awaiting The Return Of Fishing Boats sold for GBP 17,500.00 (€ 20,011.30) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by William Bromley; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Fetching Water sold at auction in November 2000 with the realized price of GBP 12,337.50 (€ 20,165.16).
