Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La sérieuse by William-Adolphe Bouguereau was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 214,200.00 (€ 199,608.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by William-Adolphe Bouguereau achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work La Jeunesse De Bacchus in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 20,766,000.00 (€ 18,625,885.73).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit La sérieuse von William-Adolphe Bouguereau kam im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 214.200,00 (€ 199.608,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von William-Adolphe Bouguereau erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit La Jeunesse De Bacchus im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 20.766.000,00 (€ 18.625.885,73).
