Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Deer resting in Windsor Great Park by William Bennett was sold in the British and Continental Pictures and Watercolours auction at Christies in London in January 2006. The price achieved of GBP 336.00 (€ 492.48) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200.00 – 400.00. Admittedly, works by William Bennett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Robert Bullough, bust-length, wearing a red velvet jacket and white cravat; and Portrait of his wife, Sarah, bust-length, wearing a blue dress with lace borders and two brooches, in a feigned oval in May 2004 with an auction result of GBP 2,987.50 (€ 4,482.35).
