Auction result well in line with expectations
The work February by William Banks Fortescue was sold in the British and European Art Online auction at Bonhams in London in September this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,480.00 (€ 4,480.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by William Banks Fortescue have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Putting In Broccoli Plants, Cornwall in February 2019 with an auction result of GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,330.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit February von William Banks Fortescue wurde im September diesen Jahres in der Auktion British and European Art Online bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.480,00 (€ 4.480,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von William Banks Fortescue auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Putting In Broccoli Plants, Cornwall im Februar 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.330,70).
