In April 2021 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Beyond Legends: Modern Art Evening Sale, which included the work Ni Rindit Met Singha (Ni Rindit With Singha) by Willem Gerard Hofker. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 882,000.00 (€ 94,431.92), 30% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Willem Gerard Hofker have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ni Goesti Kompiang Mawar in November 2012 with an auction result of EUR 781,000.00.
Oberer Schätzpreis um 30 % übertroffen
Im April 2021 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Beyond Legends: Modern Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Ni Rindit Met Singha (Ni Rindit With Singha) von Willem Gerard Hofker zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 882.000,00 (€ 94.431,92) und damit 30% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Willem Gerard Hofker auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ni Goesti Kompiang Mawar im November 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 781.000,00.
