This artwork by Watanabe Kazan achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in September last year. In the Japanese and Korean Art auction, the work Monkeys sold for USD 4,032.00 (€ 4,121.44) - well above the upper estimate of USD 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Watanabe Kazan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Autumn grasses in March 2003 with an auction result of USD 19,120.00 (€ 17,541.28).

Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Watanabe Kazan erzielte im September letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art wurde die Arbeit Monkeys für USD 4.032,00 (€ 4.121,44) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 2.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Watanabe Kazan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Autumn grasses im März 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.120,00 (€ 17.541,28).
