Shoki kamai (Shoki sending his sister to be married) by Watanabe Kazan was sold in the Japanese and Korean Art auction at Christies in New York in March 2004. The »bidding war« ended at USD 3,824.00 (€ 3,110.97), 27% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Watanabe Kazan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Autumn grasses in March 2003 with an auction result of USD 19,120.00 (€ 17,541.28).

Shoki kamai (Shoki sending his sister to be married) von Watanabe Kazan wurde im März 2004 in der Auktion Japanese and Korean Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 3.824,00 (€ 3.110,97) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Watanabe Kazan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Autumn grasses im März 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.120,00 (€ 17.541,28).
