Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Misty Summits by Wang Ran was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in October 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 58,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at HKD 176,400.00 (€ 19,537.74). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wang Ran - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Autumn Landscape, which sold at auction in May 2013 for HKD 625,000.00 (€ 61,980.29).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Misty Summits von Wang Ran im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 58.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 176.400,00 (€ 19.537,74) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von Wang Ran mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Autumn Landscape beobachtet, die im Mai 2013 für HKD 625.000,00 (€ 61.980,29) versteigert wurde.
